The first marker--the Coleridge Way quill
The Coleridge Way quill in Brown and the Blue marker (the public walkway) became our saviours. The non-appearance of these markers meant we were in trouble. As you can see they are hardly large signs, especially when covered by stinging nettles, tree branches, and rain.
we are two australian academics with a love of walking and Romantic poetry. The Lake District was a little too Wordsworth for us (and too expensive) so we decided to take the less travelled path (apologies to Robert Frost) and walk the Coleridge Way. Coleridge was a prolific walker so this may be the start of many walks to come.
